Fèves
History: There is a tradition in France to share a cake
for the "Kings day" , January 6,
where a fève is hidden inside.
A fève is a one inch porcelain figurine that is baked
within a special cake.
The person who finds it becomes the "king" of
the day.
He receives a pasteboard crown and can choose a "queen".
He then has to invite everyone who shared the first cake
to share a new cake.
Fèves come in all
different forms.
There are figures that are part of a Christian Nativity,
Disney's characters
(Pochahontas, Lion King, Dalmatians, Aristocats, Mickey
characters, Tarzan, Jungle Book...),
Pink Panther, Betty Boop...
Please feel free to email with questions concerning them.
